Join Ardsley’s Winning Swim Team!

If you ask members one of their favorite things about the club, they’ll tell you: the Ardsley summer swim team! Summer swim team is a terrific way for children to get stronger in the pool–and learn how to compete while having fun. Swimmers on the team practice daily to develop their swimming strokes. Advanced, older swimmers mentor the younger kids on the team, too. With Fun Fridays, the annual Black & Green Meet, and other swim events, the team is always on the go!

Swimmers participate in five swim meets over the course of the summer which are held during the week at various clubs located in Southern Westchester County. Ardsley’s swim team is a member of the Westchester Southern Swim Conference, Division 3.

Swim Team FAQs

What age children can swim on the team? Swim team includes children ages 6 yrs to 17 yrs. (Under 18 required to compete in meets)

Who can swim on the swim team? You are allowed to swim on the team if you can pass a deep water test and swim the length of the pool without stopping. Swim tryouts for new swimmers happen in mid-June. See AS&TC calendar.

When does the swim team meet? Swim Team members are divided into two groups: advanced and regular swimmers. Advanced Swimmers practice 8:00 am – 10:00 am Monday – Friday, and Regular Swimmers practice 8:00 am – 9:15 am Monday – Friday.

How long does swim season last? There are typically five dual meets per summer season in the month of July. Meets are held at our pool (home) or at other beach and pool clubs (away).

What are swim counties? Counties are held at Rye Playland each summer. Swimmers pay a small fee to enter individual and relay events. This meet is optional. It includes swimmers from Southern and Northern Westchester Swim Conferences.

What are swim conferences? Conferences are the final meet of the season for all swim clubs in Southern Westchester. We are in Division 3, but at finals we compete against teams from Divisions 1 – 5. It is expected that all available swimmers on the Ardsley Team participate in this final event. Preliminary qualifying swims are held at a handful of pools in the area. Finals are always held at Westchester Country Club. This year, conferences will take place TBA.

What if the weather is bad?

For Practices: We will practice in drizzle and light rain but cannot continue if we see any lightning or hear thunder. As far as cancellations go, the Ardsley coaches may not make a final call on practice until the last minute.

For Meets: The swim teams will compete no matter what the conditions. If rain is in the forecast, we may swim until it rains and then wait to finish. Of course the same rules go for thunder and lightning, but you should plan ahead for unfortunate weather gear and potential delays during meets. We will rarely cancel a swim meet in summer.

For both practices and meets, in the case of iffy weather, check this site. Ardsley will send swim team families an email and all updated information will be posted here.

Here’s to a great summer in the pool!
